Modern Racing has appointed Billy Carroll as Director of Business Development, strengthening the Mooresville, North Carolina operation as it readies a high-profile debut at the Performance Racing Industry Show.

Carroll brings decades of drag racing experience with manufacturers and service providers, tasked with expanding Modern’s customer base and deepening existing relationships across racers, teams, and builders.

His role frees founder Justin Elkes to focus on product development and technical direction, while Carroll leads business growth, customer engagement, and the feedback loop informing future releases.

Carroll will work trackside and remotely, making targeted sales calls and attending key events to consolidate Modern’s presence and respond quickly to evolving team requirements.

Elkes views the hire as additive rather than disruptive, bringing seasoned perspective to a business that has scaled rapidly while retaining tight control over quality.

Modern Racing now encompasses chassis construction, wiring and electronics, fabrication, and race support, positioning the company as a single-source supplier from grassroots categories to professional programs.

Full in-house Pro Mod chassis to debut at the PRI Show

At the PRI Show, Modern will display a full Pro Mod chassis built entirely in-house, a benchmark for the shop’s expanded capability and manufacturing discipline.

The company will also unveil Signature Series Plug and Play wiring harnesses, giving racers and builders a self-installation option without sacrificing the workmanship trusted by leading teams.

“Don’t worry about Wiring. Worry about Winning.” — Billy Carroll

Crucially, Carroll’s outreach will capture customer data and pain points, helping Modern prioritize product iterations and service packages that improve reliability, turnaround times, and trackside support.

This is the first broad presentation of Modern’s product line, giving the market clearer visibility of offerings that were previously targeted to select professional programs.

Signature Series harnesses shift from pro-only usage to wider availability

The strategic split between Carroll’s commercial remit and Elkes’ technical leadership should accelerate decision-making, reduce bottlenecks, and maintain accountability as order volumes increase.

For racers, the benefits are tangible: streamlined procurement, consistent quality, and direct access to specialists who can support builds from concept through competition.

Modern expects PRI to serve as both showcase and listening exercise, calibrating next steps based on engagement with teams, builders, and industry partners across the weekend.
