Lancia confirms a 2026 World Rally Championship return in WRC2 with the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, targeting a debut at the Monte Carlo season opener in January.
The announcement arrives via a short social video, framing a countdown to launch and signaling a structured, multi-phase rally programme.
The move repositions Stellantis’ rally focus, with Lancia expected to inherit the factory Rally2 mantle from Citroën as programme details are finalized.

Lancia has not confirmed drivers, technical specifications, or customer supply plans. Governance, partner teams, and service infrastructure remain to be announced.
Currently, Citroën supports Yohan Rossel and Leo Rossel in WRC2. A refocus toward Formula E next season opens capacity within Stellantis for a Lancia‑led programme.
Maserati’s Formula E exit accelerates that pivot, reducing overlap and enabling clearer resource allocation across Stellantis’ motorsport portfolio.
Prototype running has already begun. Leaked footage showed asphalt testing in France, followed by official imagery and confirmation from Lancia.

The project underlines brand rebuilding as much as competition. Lancia’s rally heritage remains unmatched with 10 constructors’ titles between 1974 and 1992.
Recent groundwork includes the Ypsilon Rally4 programme in the European Rally Championship and a one‑make Rally Trophy to nurture talent and technical feedback loops.
Strategically, the 2027 ruleset matters. WRC27 will use Rally2‑based engines and parts, lowering costs and aligning customer and top‑class platforms.
New cars will adopt spaceframe chassis and target around 300 horsepower, with a €345,000 cost cap per car guiding development and parity.
Current Rally2 cars will continue alongside WRC27 machinery, creating a unified competitive structure and clearer progression for teams and drivers.
Lancia will reassess a primary WRC entry for 2027. Competitiveness in WRC2, budget alignment, and commercial backing will shape that decision.
For now, Monte Carlo is the marker. Preparation focuses on reliability, gravel‑tarmac versatility, and customer support to challenge a deep WRC2 field.
