Josh Hart targets crucial ground in the Top Fuel title race as he returns to Charlotte’s zMax Dragway on September 19-21 for the second Countdown round.
He continues his fifth season racing in pink, supporting the Brakes for Breasts campaign alongside primary backer TechNet Professional.
Hart’s Charlotte pedigree is proven. He won the Carolina Nationals as a rookie and regularly excels in the venue’s four-wide format, with multiple final-quad appearances since 2021.

This season’s spring visit saw Hart advance from the opening quad before a second-round exit. He says Charlotte and Las Vegas suit him, given the top-two-advance four-wide structure.
Recent form is mixed. Hart qualified 10th at Reading, then lost to Steve Torrence in round one. Several favorites exited early, keeping the points picture fluid.
Off-track, Hart’s operation is sold to Richard Freeman and Elite Motorsports, with the deal set to finalize after the season. He is evaluating future driving plans.
Hart stresses continuity. He is not stepping away and remains open to driving elsewhere or rebuilding his own program under new structures.

TechNet Professional, part of Advance Auto Parts, backs the program. Its 15,000-plus shops use Carquest components and DieHard batteries, and support community initiatives like Brakes for Breasts.
Hart will meet fans at a free autograph session at Super Eagle Auto in Charlotte ahead of the race weekend.
Qualifying runs take place Friday and Saturday to set a 16-car field. Eliminations start Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET, with coverage on FS1.
Four-wide racing rewards execution. Lane choice depends on qualifying, and drivers prioritize clean, independent runs as the top two advance from each quad.
Points remain volatile. Hart needs a solid Charlotte haul, as shown by Cruz Pedregon’s recent leap from 11th to sixth in Funny Car after a single victory.
For new fans exploring drag racing’s formats, the event sits within a broader landscape of types of motorsports with distinct rules and demands.
Safety remains central across the paddock, from equipment to procedures, reflecting wider motorsport standards such as the importance of fire suits in high-heat environments.
